PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a scanner by fixing a driving source integrally to a moving scanning means, applying the driving power from the driving source to a reaction applying member fixed to the body of the device and moving the scanning means integrally with the driving source by the reaction at that time. CONSTITUTION:Fluorescent lamps 5a, 5b,a mirror 7, a lenses 8a, 9b, and solid- state image sensing elements 9a, 9b are fixed and placed integrally on a table 10 and move along rails 4a, 4b, whereby an original is scanned. A driving motor 6 is fixed and placed on the table 10, and when a forward running clutch is energized by driving the motor 6, a pulley 11 winds a wire 12 and the table 10 moves integrally with an optical scanning means 3, whereby the original is scanned. Since the scanner is constituted in such a way that the driving power of the driving source is applied to the reaction applying member such as the wire 12 and the table 10 is moved by the reaction applied from the wire 12, the spacing in the driving part of the scanner is eliminated and the reduction in the size of the scanner is made possible. |
