PURPOSE:To shape an electrode speedily between spot welding cycles by providing an electrode shaping device capable of position indexing between a welding gun tip and the electrode. CONSTITUTION:For spot welding, a work is positioned opposite to an electrode by indexing and change-over valves 18 and 19 to supply air with high set pressure to the air cylinder 6 of a welding gun 4 through a pressure regulating valve 16. Then, the tip electrode 5 is lowered to press the work, and electricity is fed from a welding transformer 10 to perform the spot welding. While works are replaced, spot welding is performed at prescribed frequency and when the electrode 5 is worn or damaged, a position indexing means moves a frame body 14 to set an electrode shaping device opposite to the electrode 5. Then, the valves 18 and 19 to supply air with lower pressure than in the welding to the cylinder 6 through a pressure regulating valve 17 and the electrode 5 is moved forth to be pressed against a chip dresser 8 which is in rotation, thereby shaping the electrode 5. |
