The invention relates to a suction nozzle which can be connected to a regenerative pump or a suction fan, for taking up liquids on approximately horizontal surfaces. The suction nozzle is constructed as a hollow chamber body with a bottom wall which is perforated in the manner of a screen and whose outer surface is covered with a coating consisting of a soft elastic, open-pore foam material. In the position of use of the suction nozzle, the foam material coating resting against the bottom wall of the hollow chamber body is pressed directly onto the surface from which liquid is to be taken up so that the liquid can be completely removed from said surface using the suction nozzle to be operated by hand in the manner of a floor vacuum cleaner.
