In an automatic device for removing rubber closure stoppers from container tubes for analytical equipment the stoppers are removed from the tubes by a reciprocating stripper, the device is constructed so that the closure stoppers are removed from the tubes without part of the tube contents being lost. To this end, the stripper is constructed as a gripper which can be moved over the stoppers and executes first an approximately horizontal and then a rising extraction movement and the tubes are held by a bracing device in opposition to the extraction movement during the extraction movement of the gripper.
