The invention is concerned with a device for the removal or recovery of gases or vapours of solvents from a process medium by adsorption with an adsorbent material and the regeneration of the adsorbent material by water vapour. The device of the invention comprises a vessel including an adsorption chamber for containing the adsorbent material, the adsorption chamber being in flow communication with upper and lower connection chambers provided respectively with inlet and outlet means for the process medium. The vessel is associated with means for establishing a flow of the process medium from top to bottom. The adsorption chamber and upper connection chamber have a single wall structure having one or more layers with at least one extruded inner layer made of corrosion- and diffusion-resistant plastics material and the lower connection chamber is made of metallic material.
