PURPOSE:To increase durability at high temperature by conducting dilute sulfuric acid kneading with a lead compound solution having a specified content of soluble silica liberated for forming a plate of paste type lead-acid battery. CONSTITUTION:Lead oxide obtained by oxidizing lead or lead alloy and lead powder comprising residual lead are kneaded with dilute sulfuric acid in a paste form, then filled in a grid substrate to form a cathode plate for lead-acid battery. In kneading lead powder with dilute sulfuric acid, when lead compound solution containing 10-80 mg/l of soluble silica is liberated in preparately kneading, the lead powder is added. The soluble silica is adsorbed on the surface of tribasic lead sulfate produced by reaction of dilute sulfuric acid with lead powder, and sliding capability between particles of the paste is increased. Therefore, even if paste density is high, filling of the paste is made good and durability at high temperature is increased. |
