PURPOSE:To reduce the variation in torque when exchanging inertial supercharging mechanical supercharging by providing a switching check valve and a regulating check valve for preventing excessive supercharging to an air supply system in a supercharger in which inertial supercharging is made in a revolving region below a specific value. CONSTITUTION:In case where the revolving number of an engine is below a specific value, since the pressure of the supercharged air from a supercharger 2 to an air inlet passage 9 is over atmospheric one, a switching check valve 10 is closed, back flow to an air cleaner 8 side is interrupted, and mechanical supercharging operation is performed. When the supercharging pressure exceeds a set pressure under such a condition, a regulating check valve 17 is opened against a spring 18 to release a part of compressed air, and when the revolving number of engine exceeds a specific value, the amount of air from the supercharger 2 tends to be running short and air is introduced to the air inlet passage 9 through the check valve 10 from the cleaner 8. In this case, the length of the air inlet passage downstream of a surge tank 5 is set such that the amount of sucked air becomes maximum in the revolving region above a specific value to make it operate by an inertial supercharging operation. |
