The image forming device according to the invention is characterised by an image-recording medium (1) for constructing a latent electrostatic or charge image thereon, by a charging unit (2) for charging the entire surface of the image-recording medium (1), by an exposure unit (3) for generating the latent charge image on the surface of the image-recording medium (1), by a developing unit (5) for developing the latent charge image by means of a developer, and by a charge-removing or neutralising unit (4), which is arranged between the charging unit (2) and the developing unit (5) and consists essentially of an optically transparent element, a plurality of transparent electrodes, possibly segmented, arranged on the latter, a light source arranged along the image-recording medium, and a housing which screens the arrangement and the light source from the outside. <IMAGE>
