PURPOSE:To obtain excellent recording characteristics by maintaining the average height difference in the degree of ruggedness on the surface of an electrostatic recording body of transfer type within a specific range thereby making the space discharge between a stylus electrode, etc. and the recording body adequate and obtaining a good surface potential distribution. CONSTITUTION:A conductive layer 1 is formed by vapor deposition of Al, etc. on a substrate 2 of a polyester film or the like. Liquid for formation of dielectric layer prepd. by dispersing solid particle of ZrO2, Al2O3, etc. of about 6mu average perticle size in a binder resin (modified urethane resin, modified silicone resin, etc.) is coated thereon and is dried, whereby a dielectric layer 3 having an average height difference in the ruggedness of the surface (the average value of the differences between the bottom of troughs and the peaks of crest are sampled at every 0.5mu in a 200mu range of the length of the recording body, and are measured with a surface roughness gage, then the ruggedness is graphed and is determined by statistical processing of about 400 samplings) ranging to 0.2-9mu is formed. Thus electric discharge is made easy, and excellent recording characteristics are obtained without the need for providing any special space holders. |
