The invention relates to a housing which can be used just as well for axial valves, non-return valves, non-return flaps, rotary flaps and stopcocks, the versatile applicability being achieved by the fitment of different sealing and/or retaining parts interacting with the shut-off devices. For matching to the various types of fitting, it is only necessary to incorporate additional openings in the housing for the bearing and mounting parts, if required.
