PURPOSE:To obtain an electronic timepiece whose abnormality can be reported to the user, by controlling the second hand so that it move in a manner different from the normal manner when the abnormality occurs in the timepiece. CONSTITUTION:When a battery 44 is applied, a signal for normal second hand driving passes from a selecting circuit 7 to drive a rotor 17 through a second hand driving signal distributing circuit 11, a driving circuit 15, and an electromagnetic coil 16 at every one second, and the second hand advance at every one second in the normal manner. The signal from an hour and minute hand driving signal generating circuit 5 drives a rotor 30 through an hour and minute hand driving signal distributing circuit 18, a driving circuit 28, and an electromagnetic coil 29 to move hour and minute hands. The second hand is moved normally when the rotor 30 is rotated normally; but when the rotor 30 is rotated abnormally by some cause of shock, dust, a low temperature, a magnetic field, or the like, the second hand is moved continuously at every two seconds by a controlling circuit 35, and thus, the user becomes aware of the abnormality to find that the time display is not correct. |
