PURPOSE:To determine monomethylamine, by using monomethylamine oxidase produced by bacteria belonging to Bacillus genus. CONSTITUTION:A specimen for the determination of monomethylamine, e.g. food such as meat, fish meat, etc., feces, urine, etc. or a monomethylamine-containing liquid obtained by treating a methylguanidine-containing specimen with methylguanidine decomposing enzyme, is brought into contact with monomethylamine oxidase obtained by the culture of bacteria belonging to Bacillus genus and capable of producing monomethylamine oxidase, e.g. Bacillus sp. N-101 (FERM BP-59). The amount of monomethylamine in the specimen can be determined by determining formaldehyde, ammonia or hydrogen peroxide produced by the above reaction. |
