Pipe sections (3, 4, 5, 6) of the same length and different diameter can be inserted into one another in order to produce oil or gas lines in order to save space during transportation. In order to hold the pipe arrangement (1) securely with the clamping device, two transverse carriers (13) are arranged at opposite ends of the pipe arrangement (1) and are connected to a connecting part (17) which extends through the pipe arrangement (1). Each transverse carrier (13) has two carriers (23, 24) protruding at their ends in order to securely grip the pipe arrangement (1). In order to move between a working position and a retracted position, a bent holding part (31) is provided at the upper end of each transverse carrier (13) in order to raise the pipe arrangement (1) by means of a crane. In accordance with one embodiment, the pipe arrangement (1) can be placed directly on the floor without supports or wedges using the clamping device according to the invention. <IMAGE>
