The invention relates to a gas spring having the object of achieving an extension force of the piston rod which is controlled as a function of the temperature. This object is achieved in that the volume of the operating chamber into which the piston rod descends can be varied as a function of the temperature by means of a separating wall, and the desired extension force behaviour of the piston rod is thus achieved in a temperature range.
