In order to dispense with manual introduction of the curing stick and therefore to eliminate the danger of damage to the sausage skins from the start, it is proposed according to the invention that a lifting device be arranged below the region of transition between the semicircular run and the straight run and upstream of the discharging pipe, looking in the conveying direction of the belt, which lifting device raises for a short time the two free ends of the pair of sausages moving past it, and that a curing stick be provided which extends along the length of said straight run, is arranged beneath the hooks, extends parallel to the horizontal plane of the conveyor belt, is clamped at one end and the free end of which is situated above the lifting device.
