PURPOSE:To enable the long-term use of a packing for sealing the gap between the shaft for the vertical displacement of a pressing means and the through- hole of the upper lid of the dry ice container of a dry ice producing apparatus, by attaching a heater in the shaft at the vertically moving position near the packing. CONSTITUTION:The titled dry ice producing apparatus is composed of a container 1 having a pressing means 4 consisting of the vertically movable shaft 5 and the piston plate 6 attached to the end of the shaft 5. An electrical heater 10 is attached in the shaft 5 at the position corresponding to the part of the vertically moving shaft near the packing 12 for the sealing of the shaft 5. The heater 10 is electrified during operation to heat the shaft 5 at the part containing the heater 10 and its vicinity. Consequently, the low-temperature degradation of the packing 12 caused by the contact with dry ice intruded between the upper lid 7 of the container and the piston plate 6 is preveted, and the freezing of the exposed outer surface of the shaft 5 can be inhibited. Accordingly, the mechanical damage of the packing 12 can be prevented, and the life of the packing is elongated. The port 2 in the figure is the inlet of the liquefied CO2. |
