Such a measurement probe generates an electromagnetic field which is introduced into a moving and electrically conductive liquid, in which a voltage is induced which depends, inter alia, on its rate of flow. Said voltage is tapped using two electrodes immersed therein. It is a measure of the rate of flow. According to the invention, the electromagnetic field is generated by applying an adjustable pulse train to the winding of the probe. The open-circuit power is reduced thereby. Furthermore, the measurement can be better matched to the measurement task.
