Heading C2C. 2 - (2 - Azido - N - methylacetamido) - 5 - chlorobenzophenone is prepared by (a) acylating 2 - methylamino - 5 - chlorobenzophenone; or (b) reacting a compound of the formula (X = reactive ester atom or group) with a salt of hydrazoic acid, and may be reductively cyclized in the absence of a strong base or an acid to 7-chloro-1,3-dihydro-1-methyl-5-phenyl- 2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 972,968 and 972,975. |
