In an electrical hand-held hairdryer (1) with a fan (7) and with an air inlet and an air outlet opening (9 and 11 respectively), which are encased by a suction grid and a blow-out grid (10 and 12 respectively), there is arranged in the area of each of the housing openings (9, 11, 3', 4'') an earthed metal element (14, 15, 16, 17). For the purpose of increasing the operational safety of the hairdryer, the earthed metal elements are separated from the surface of the hairdryer to be handled by means of a strengthened insulation (19, 19'; 22, 23). <IMAGE>
