A monitoring device for injection-moulding or die-casting machines which have mould parts (17, 20, 24, 38, 37) which can be moved relative to one another, has contactless, preferably pneumatic, proximity sensors (30-33), each of which is attached firmly to one mould part (20, 38) and interacts with another mould part (17, 24, 37). During the interaction with the two mould halves, a proximity sensor (30) monitors whether the mould has been properly closed and likewise whether it is forced open due to an excessively high injection pressure. The ejector (23) and slide (22) of the mould are monitored by means of proximity sensors (31-33) to determine whether they have been withdrawn completely from the mould at the correct point in time. The proximity sensor (30-33) comprises a measuring nozzle and a pressure-measuring chamber arranged directly thereon and having an electric switch. <IMAGE>
