In the method pf production of electrode for use in electrolysis fitting sea water of low temperature, and electrolysis of alkaline metallic halogen compounds having dilute concentration, electrode has covering containing Pt 50-95 mole%, tin oxide 5-50 mole% (but a part of tin oxide can be replaced by cobalt oxide) in the conductive vapor phase. This time, tin component containing is desirable to control Sn 10-90 mole % in spreading solution, and heat treatment process is repeated many times in order to obtain desired thickness of covering.
