The object of the invention is to improve the mixture formation for a special combustion chamber so that operation with very low proportions of toxic gas in the exhaust gas is possible without loss of performance and with very low consumption. The object is achieved by generating, in addition to a swirled rotating flow, a further third flow which flows in between the upper and lower flow. At the same time the main part of the combustion chamber is also connected to the spark plug in very compact form in the area of the outlet valve. It is advantageous if the intermediate flow arranged between the upper and the lower flow runs at an angle to the upper and/or lower flow. In the case of this design three flows are deliberately combined with one another, which collide with one another with varying intensity and/or are mixed with one another.
