In this device, two temperature set point transmitters (1, 2), which can be set independently of one another, and a timer (7) are provided. On the timer (7), first time intervals can be set in which the first temperature set point transmitter (1) allocated to a lowered room temperature is effective and second time intervals in which the second set point transmitter (2) allocated to a normal room temperature is effective. To be able to discontinue the second time intervals with normal room temperature when the owner of the residence is not at home, an adjustable time interval transmitter (16) for presetting a monitoring time and a keyable signal transmitter (17) are additionally provided, the time interval transmitter (16) being started in each case at the beginning of a second time interval and activating the first temperature set point transmitter (1) when the monitoring time has elapsed, if the signal transmitter (17) has not been operated during the monitoring time. <IMAGE>
