Amplifier stage with field-effect transistor

The gate electrode of a field-effect transistor is connected to one output terminal of a transformer, the other output terminal of which is at reference potential. The source electrode is connected to one input terminal of the transformer, the other input terminal of which is connected to reference potential. The input signal is applied between the two input terminals of the transformer whilst the output current is taken from between the drain electrode and the reference potential.
