The invention relates to a stackable chair which is suitable for seating in rows and, accordingly, has lateral coupling elements and can be provided with an arm rest or a writing board. These chairs are distinguished by a special design of the row connecting elements (24, 25) which are arranged separately from the coupling elements (18) on the chair legs and side flanges which hold the seat part. In this case, the coupling element (18) is formed by the boundary surfaces (20, 21) of a coupling opening (19). The row connecting elements (24, 25) are thus completely independent of the coupling elements (18) and their counter-elements (42) in respect of their function, such that, by the use of chair accessories which likewise have to be fastened to the side flanges (5, 6), the function of the row connecting elements (24, 25) is not affected. <IMAGE>
