In order to detect line-to-line contacts and couplings of lines (V1, V2) between an actuator (SW) and a plurality of receivers (E1, E2), which can be influenced by a transmitter (S), of multifrequency track circuit arrangements, the lines are routed via in each case one transformer (T1, T2). The latter has a centre tap on its winding assigned to the respective receiver (E1, E2). Via the said centre tap, an identifier signal is impressed whose desired state is continuously monitored. A deviation from the desired state indicates a defect. <IMAGE>
