A four stroke I.C. engine has a big end bearing shell 3, Fig.1 formed with at least one axially extending groove 10, closed at the ends and communicating with a lubricating system, the groove being located at the side of the shell nearest the piston at an angle a of between 45 degrees and 75 degrees in the direction opposite to the crank-pin rotation from the connecting rod plane E. Groove E co-operates with a peripheral groove 5 and is fed via bore 6 from crank-pin bore 5. In further embodiments the shell has two grooves 10 arranged diametrically opposite or four grooves 10 arranged in two diametrically opposed pairs. |
