[Also in Division G3] A throttling valve is provided with a fluid resistor which subdivides the main flow into a plurality of small bore passages of greater length than the direct distance between the inlet and outlet of the resistor, and has means for varying the number of operative passages. Piston 14 (Fig. 1) co-operating with annular seat 19 is provided with tubes 22 the ends 23 of which terminate on the cylindrical surface of the piston. In a modification (Fig. 3) a plain piston 28 co-operates with a stack of washers 38 each provided with sinuous passages on its top horizontal surface (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). |
