Continuous process for the elimination of water from suspensions. Is effected by the bilateral extraction of the liquid from a layer of solid materials by the application of pressures either lower or higher than normal. The extraction of the liquid is effected by suction through a filtering fabric on a drum in a first zone and then by pressure on the other side of the layer of solid particles through another fabric, running horizontally, in a second zone. The process is applicable for the elimination of water from sludges obtained in the purification of domestic and industrial effluents.
