PURPOSE:To obtain a standard blood filter paper for measuring histidine concentration in blood withstanding a long-term preservation by dripping and drying a liquid prepared from a salt such as hydrogen sulfite containing sodium or potassium as cation, waste blood of a man and L-histidine on a commercially available filter paper. CONSTITUTION:Dithionite, disulfite and hydrogen sulfite containing sodium and potassium as cation are added to a waste blood of a healthy man to reach 10mM-50mM in the final concentration and dissolved therein. Then, depending on the type thereof, L-histidine is added to the mixture to reach 2mg/dl, 4mg/ dl, 16mg/dl or 20mg/dl in the final concentration and dissolved therein. After a gentle agitation throuout the mixture, it is allowed to stand at the room temperature for 2hr to homogenize the stock blood. The liquid thus obtained is dripped on a commercial PKU filter paper penetrating it up to a diameter of 11mm. and then, allowed to dry in the air to obtain a standard blood filter paper. The standard blood filter paper thus prepared withstands the preservation for more than 1 year at -20 deg.C and for more than 6 months at 40 deg.C.
