PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for cephalotaxine useful as a remedy reagent for leukemia in high yield by easy operations, by cyclizing a benzazepine derivative as a self-catalyst in a basic solvent or on a solid adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:2 -Oxo-[5, 8, 9, 10-Tetrahydro -6H- 1, 3-dioxolo[4, 5-h]pyrrolo [2,1-b][3]benzazepin-11-yl]-1-propanone as a self-catalyst is cyclized in a basic solvent, e.g. (C2H5)3N-CH3OH, or on a solid adsorbent, e.g. Al2O3, to give the aimed substance of formulaI. The starting substance is obtained by acylating an enamine and an anhydride of formula II, and decomposing the excess unreacted anhydride with methanol added thereto. |
