Conversion unit for road finishers for the lateral discharge of material

For the laying of construction materials on roadside paths (cycle tracks) to be laid out at different distances from highways, the conversion unit for road finishers for the lateral feeding of construction materials is now also provided with equipment which makes it possible for the previous lateral-feeding designs along with their many concomitant design difficulties to be avoided. For the use of the conversion unit, road finishers can be used for the laying of bituminous mix without the construction elements on the road finisher for laying the mix having to be removed. It is only the previous material hopper that is rendered inoperative by removal of the side parts, this being replaced by a new-design two-part hopper. The construction materials are fed out laterally by means of a screw conveyor, which is incorporated in the new-design material hopper, in order to be distributed uniformly via a slotted pipe section, and immediately adjacent to the new equipment, onto the subgrade situated below, or to be transferred via another pipe section onto a conveyor belt which is mounted swivellably and vertically adjustably on the equipment. The screw conveyor, which is exposed apart from a few narrow reinforcing plates, can be covered by movable slide rings so as to provide a way of controlling the dispensing rate of the material in terms of the conveyor power and adjustment to the consistency and/or particle size of the construction materials. Where there are differences in height between the roadway and roadside paths, this is compensated for by adjusting the height of the belt towards the discharge side.
