Feeding sheets.-Sheets to be labelled are fed from the bottom of a pile in a magazine 12, Fig. 1, on to a belt 14. Labels, either having adhesive on one surface so as to be applied to the sheets, or having information thereon of a heat-transferrable substance, are fed from a supply station 22 by a transfer wheel 24 carrying a heated vacuum pad 36.to a transfer station 28. Where the label is not itself transferred to the sheet, it is transferred by a vacuum pick-off wheel 30 to a trough 32. Delivering sheets in counted batches.-The sheets carrying the applied labels or information are fed by the belt 14 past a counter and a director for sensing a particular mark on a sheet on to a stack 64, Figs. 1 and 3, on a normally stationary belt 60, abutting an adjustable front stop 80, an adjustable back stop 82 and a side stop 84. When the desired number of sheets has been delivered on to the stack, or the particular mark is directed, the conveyer 60 is moved one step to move the stack clear of the delivery position while the sheet feed is interrup ted.
