PURPOSE:To greatly enhance sensitivity to X-ray exposure, by converting X- rays into visible light high in sensitivity of a photoconductor using a fluorescent substance. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray fluorescent substance layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1, on this layer a transparent conductive layer 3 is provided, and a photoconductor layer 4 is formed as the uppermost layer. This photoreceptor does not absorb X-rays appreciably upon exposure to them, but the layer 2 absorbs most of the rays, emitting visible light high in sensitivity of the photoconductor. Upon absorbing the visible light, the layer 4 generates electrons and holes, each moving in the direction opposite to each other by action of an electric field due to the surface charge of the layer 4. The carriers that have reached the surface of the layer 4 neutralize the initial charge to form an electrostatic latent image, thus permitting X-ray sensitivity to be raised by 20-100 times by use of the fluorescent substance layer 4. |
