1410123 Mounting parts on shafts CAM GEARS Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 3858/73 Heading F2U An annular part 4 (e.g. a ball bearing race) is fixed on a shaft 3 against relative axial movement by an abutment each side of the part, the abutment on one side comprising an undivided ring 6 deformed to enter a groove 5 adjacent the part 4 so that the ring 6 is sandwiched between the part 4 and a wall of the groove. The other abutment may either be similar or be a shoulder on the shaft where a part of greater diameter comprises a helical pinion. The shaft may have several grooves 5 so that the part 4, when located between two rings 6, may be mounted in a selected axial position. The ring 6 shown may either be deformed from a cylindrical ring or be forced axially along the shaft.
