PURPOSE:To cut sharply without causing elongation of a wire, by employing a wire electrode of such material as the brass having low elongation percentage in the specific temperature range while the tensile strength will drop. CONSTITUTION:A wire electrode 6 is held at the upper portion by the projection 108a of a cutter section holding member 108 and the first electrode 109a of a cutter section electrode to maintain electrically and thermally good conducting state, while the lower portion of the wire electrode 6 is pushed by a projection 108b projected from the projected portion 108a of the cutter section holding member 108 to connect the wire electrode 6 and the sectond electrode 109c electrically and thermally while further applying the tension on the wire electrode 6. The wire electrode 6 is made of brass the elongation percentage and the tensile strength of which will drop in the specific temperature range, thereby the power is applied between the electrodes 109a and 109c to heat it, thus to cut the wire electrode 6 by said preapplied tension. |
