Heterocyclic polymers prepd by oxidn of - aromatic diamines and aromatic hydrocarbon

The thermally stable polymers are prepd. by reacting, at 80-450 degrees C, a mixture of sulphur, at least one diamine of formula: H2N-Ar1-NH2, and at least one aromatic dialkyl cpd. of gen. formula: R - Ar1-R1, where R and R1, same or different, are alkyl radicals, Ar1 and Ar1 are divalent aromatic, homocyclic or heterocyclic radicals formed from one or more bonded rings or joined via a single bond or linkage of formula: -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO-, -CHOR1-, CF2, -NR1-, -CONR1, (CR1R2)n, -Si(R3)(R4)-, -O-Si(R3)(R4)-O-, P(R3)(=O)-, -O-P(R3)(=O)-O-, -COO-, -R1N-CO-NR1-, where R1 and R2 are H, alkyl or aryl radicals, and R3 and R4 are alkyl or aryl radicals. Pref. reaction is carried out in presence of at least one polysulphide. Products are used to produce moulded articles, foams, cellular structures, varnishes, laminates and temp. resistant adhesives.
