Air-jet loom has a series of constrictors mounted in close proximity to the reed, with a series of auxiliary jets mounted further away from the reed, on the opposite side of the constrictors. The upper ends of the constrictor plates form two branches which define a lozenge-shaped insertion canal, the constrictor plates opposite an auxiliary jet lacking the branch remote from the reed to enable the tip of the jet to partially penetrate the insertion canal. The auxiliary jet apertures are located alongside the weft-exit slot of the constrictors with the jets directed slightly downwards, and the side of the constrictor channel adjacent the exit slot forms an overhang which prevents the yearn escaping prematurely from the channel. This is a more logical arrangement, with the thicker elements, i.e. the jets, located further from the reed than the thinner constrictors, giving a more compact assembly which improves the operating characteristics of the loom.
|
