PURPOSE:To prevent an error in operation resulting from the complexity of operation by providing a timer which is operated with a key pressed, and changing an operation mode over a standard mode a prescribed time after the key is pressed. CONSTITUTION:A signal generated by pressing a key in a key group 2 is inputted to and decoded by a key decoder 4, whose output is supplied to a typewriter control circuit 6 through a signal line 10. The signal from the key decoder 4 is inputted to a timer 5 constituted as a subtracting timer, which is reset. The timer 5 generates a high-level signal to one input terminal of an AND gate 8 a prescribed time later. A standard value storage circuit 7 is connected to the other terminal of the AND gate 8, and its standard value is inputted to the AND gate 8 with a mode setting key 3 and then inputted to the typewriter control circuit 6 to allow a typewriter to operate in standard mode. |
