PURPOSE:To calculate the width size of a plate material by data processing of one picture portion, by picking up plural plate material partial images reflected on a polyhedral mirror, by an image pickup machine. CONSTITUTION:A thick plate 30 from a rolling mill 40 is shifted by a carrying roll 41, and in the upper direction of its passing area, a polyhedral mirror 11 is provided. Band areas 301-308 being a partial image of the thick plate 30 reflected on this polyhedral mirror 11 are picked up by a TV camera 13. A video signal of 1 frame portion of this picked-up picture image is supplied to a monitor television 14 and a binary-coding circuit 17. Subsequently, an operating part 20 executes data processing in accordance with a picture image data from the binary-coding circuit 17, and calculates width size of each and area 301-308. In this way, the width size of a plate material can be calculated by data processing of one picture portion. |
