摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To prevent shortage of the amount of scavenging air in a low load operating zone by a method wherein compressed air, pre-stored in an air tank, is introduced to a scavenging pipe for the engine through an auxiliary air introducing pipe and the supplying amount thereof is made variable. CONSTITUTION:In a main diesel ingine 1 for marine use, the compressed air from a supercharger 5 is introduced into the scavenging pipe 2 through the discharging pipe 4 of a blower while the compressed air in the air tank 7 for starting is supplied into a cylinder upon starting from an introducing pipe 8 through a main starting valve 6. In this case, the auxiliary air introducing pipe 9 is branched on the way of the introducing pipe 8 for starting air while the other end thereof is connected to the scavenging pipe 21 through an orifice 11. An opening and closing control valve 10 for controlling the flow amount of the compressed air is interposed on the way of the auxiliary air introducing pipe 9. In the low load operating zone, the opening and closing controlling valve 10 is opened to supply the compressed air in the tank 7 into the cylinder through the scavenging pipe 2 and thereby improving the scavenging efficiency of the engine.</p>
