PURPOSE:To perform recording of high density by disposing conductor films which magnetize recording media backward from the preceding end part of a magnetic layer by prescribed distances. CONSTITUTION:A magneto-resistance element 9 and insulation films 11-13 which insulate respective conductor layers are formed on a substrate 1. A lower magnetic layer 15 have functions both as a lower shielding film of a thin film magneto-resistance head and a lower core of an induction type thin film magnetic head. An upper magnetic layer 16 is directly laminated in the rear part of the head to form a closed magnetic circuit in parts other than a gap part. A conductor film 17 has functions of both as a coil conductor and a biasing film and is formed of a thin film of small electric resistivity. The film 17 is retreated by about 5-20mum from a gap part 18 in order to prevent the degradation in resolving power as a playback head on increasing of a gap length L. Thus the thin film magnetic head of a narrower track is obtained. |
