PURPOSE:To automatically detect and interpolate a white smear having an optional signal level and to improve picture quality, by substituting the contents of information of a picture element having the white smear for a pseudo signal. CONSTITUTION:When a signal containing a white smear is inputted to an input terminal 1, an uninvertible amplifier 13 outputs a signal shown by (a). An adder 17 calculates the arithmetic mean of a two-picture-element delayed signal outputted from an analog delaying and distributing circuit 11 and the undelayed signal and the difference from the one-picture-element delayed signal shown by (a) to output a signal (b). A comparator 18 compares the output signal (b) with a comparison voltage to output a signal (c). This output signal changes over an electronic switch 19 to substitute the white smear part of the signal (a) by the output signal (d) of an adder 17'. Therefore, the white smear compensated signal shown by (b) is outputted from an output terminal 2. |
