PURPOSE:To set a discharge electrode onto an optical fiber connecting end face with high accuracy, by providing a V-groove for conforming optical axes of fibers to each other, on the upper surface in the lengthwise direction, and providing recessed parts which extend at right angles in the horizontal direction and also fall at right angles to the potical axes, in the thick part of both sides of the V-groove. CONSTITUTION:An aligning jig 11 of an optical fiber is formed like a rectangular parallelepiped by use of ceramics, etc., and in the center part of the upper surface in the lengthwise direction, a V-groove 12 is formed. In the thick part of both sides of the groove 12, electrode positioning holes 13a, 13b which have an inside diameter a little larger than an outside diameter of discharge electrodes 17a, 17b, and are fitted into the electrodes 17a, 17b with high accuracy are pierced. The holes 13a, 13b extend at right angles in the horizontal derection toward the outside of both sides from the groove 12, the inside opening end opens in the vicinty of the bottom part of the groove 12, and the outside opening end opens on the outside surface of the jig 11. When the electrodes 17a, 17b are inserted into the holes 13a, 13b, the tips of the electrodes 17a, 17b are guided along the inside surface of the holes 13a, 13b, and are fitted into the butt part of the connecting end face of fibers 14a, 14b with high accuracy. |
