PURPOSE:To measure the injection timing accurately and with ease. by magnetizing the body of an injection nozzle, and detecting the crank angle by use of the terminal voltage of a coil attached to the top of the nozzle body. CONSTITUTION:In injection of fuel, high-pressure fuel discharged from a fuel pump is supplied via a passage 21 to an injection nozzle 11 and urges a needle valve 16 upward relative to a nozzle body 15 against the force of a spring 18, whereby fuel is injected into a combustion chamber from the nozzle 11. Here, if the nozzle body 15 and the needle valve 16 are magnetized and a coil 22 is disposed at the top of the nozzle body 15, the coil produces a terminal voltage proportional to the speed of movement of the valve 16. With such an arrangement, stroboscopic illumination of a timing light 26 is produced by amplifying (at 25) the terminal voltage of the coil 22 produced synchronously with the injection, and the angular graduation or the like marked on a flywheel magnet of a crank shaft is lighted by the stroboscopic illumination. |
