The purpose of these stripping pliers is to strip the sheathing of NYM cables (leads) within the switch or junction sockets and other application areas where access is difficult, where cutting all round with one of the previously known cable blades is not possible for space reasons. Cable sheath residue lengths within the sockets have an impeding effect on the installation of terminals or switching apparatuses and can be removed only in a very time-consuming manner. This problem has been solved according to the invention in that the lower strut (1) of the pliers, which is constructed hollow, is pushed over the NYM cable which is to be stripped. The cutting blade (2) of the blade strut (5) is pressed into the cable sheath by the compression spring (4). Rotation of the blade strut around the cable is sufficient to cut off the sheath. The sheath which has been cut off can now be pulled off together with the pliers. As a result of the tapering pliers head, the stripping process can be carried out even at extremely confined points. The cutting depth of the blade is adjustable by means of the knurled screw (3) such that the cable wires (cores) cannot be damaged in any case. <IMAGE>
