PURPOSE:To decide the quality of the life characteristic of a nonlinear resistor of zinc oxide accurately in a short time, by utilizing the correlation between the heat-stimulated current characteristic and the life characteristic. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of an element substance is raised at a prescribed rate, a current flows in such a way that it has one large peak and several small peaks located on the opposite sides of the large peak corresponding to the temperature. This is a temperature-stimulated current (TSC), and said peaks are named I1, I2, I3 and I3' from the left to the right. When this measurement of current is applied to a sample l1 without heat treatment, a sample l2 with optimum heat treatment, and a sample l3 with overheat treatment, the TSC characteristic shown by the graph is obtained. According to the graph, l2 is positioned in between l1 and l3, and the maximum peak of l2 is positioned leftest in patterns. It is made clear thereby that the peaks of TSC relate to the temperature of heat treatment. Since a leakage current tends to increase more in l1 and l3 than in l2, the life characteristic can be known from the peaks of TSC. |
