PURPOSE:To provide a substrate for a clutch friction plate which is formed by compression-molding a yarn formed of a vegetable fiber where synthetic resin is impregnated in such a manner as to continue in the peripheral direction to be harmless to the human body in respect of safety and health and be excellent in mechanical property. CONSTITUTION:A friction plate 20 comprises a substantially ring-shaped substrate 28 and friction members 29 sticked to both surfaces of the substrate 28. The outer peripheral portion of the substrate 28 is provided with engaging portions 30 to be engaged with a clutch housing, and oil grooves 31 are formed between each friction member 29. The substrate 28 is formed by compression-heating molding a material formed by impregnating a synthetic resin in long cotton yarn fiber such as pure cotton or mix spinning of cotton and staple fiber in a metal mold in such a manner that a fiber continues in the peripheral direction. |
