PURPOSE:To extend the life of a photoreceptor, and to prevent uneven charging, by pressing a conductive elastic body provided in a uniform thickness around a conductive rigid shaft into contact with the photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor 2 is formed on a drum 1, and a conductive elastic body 6 is formed in a uniform thickness around a conductive rigid shaft 5 to give a roller shape, and it is pressed to the photoreceptor 2 with a spring 7. The surface potential of the part 3 to be charged is about -450V, current flowing to the photoreceptor 2 is about 5mA/cm<2>, and the resistivity of the body 6, such as NBR rubber is 10<9>OMEGA.cm, thus permitting life of the photoreceptor to be extended by reduction of flowing current, and a roller charger freed from uneven charging and enhanced in reliability to be obtained. |
