PURPOSE:To time the original read surely and accurately with a simple constitution to read originals with a high quality, by detecting the luminous flux from a high-reflection factor part of a platen before reading an original and utilizing this luminous flux for the timing of the original read. CONSTITUTION:A platen 1' is provided with a part 1'-W having a high reflection factor and a black light absorbing part 1'-B adjacently to an original 1. A rotatable movable reflective mirror 6, a condenser lens 9, and a photodetector 11 are arranged in the back of a lens 5. Information of the original 1 is irradiated with an exposure lamp, and the reflected light is reflected by the reflective mirror 6 and is detected by the photodetector 11 and is converted to an electric signal, and the signal of the reflected light from the part 1'-W having a high reflection factor becomes the highest-peak signal. This signal is used for the start timing to synchronize the rotation of the reflective mirror, and thus, the step out of synchronism of the output signal for original scanning is reduced considerably even if the rotation of the reflective mirror 6 is somewhat variant, and a high-quality original read is performed. |
